An important aspect to transforming a neighborhood is information literacy. A signature part of the BMHA Perry Choice Neighborhood Planning Initiative, the Planning and Information (P&I) Center on the corner of South Park Avenue and Louisiana St. will provide a wealth of information to residents of the Perry Choice Neighborhood.
The P&I Center is an institution, which is designed to be a connector between the planning initiative and residents of the Perry Choice Neighborhood. It is meant to be an "inspirational place"—a symbol of that the Perry Choice Neighborhood will become and a living embodiment of BMHA, and its partners, to the creation of a community where the residents will have the best that Buffalo and Western New York have to offer.

Its goal is to forge creative and innovative strategies aimed at getting residents to participate actively in all phases of the neighborhood planning and development process, to increase their information literacy rate and help them solve problems that thwart the community building process.

The P&I Center is also a work place equipped with the technology to enable the staff, along with residents, to work on the Perry Choice neighborhood planning initiative, provide select services to residents, and become a major source of information on issues and community building questions that impact residents/ Toward this end, the P&I Center will offer computer classes, provide after-school tutorial sessions for students, along with a quiet place for them to study and use a computer. Additionally, it will assist residents in searching for employment, supportive services and developing their resumes, and obtaining email addresses. The P&I Center also manages the Perry Choice Neighborhood website, Facebook and Twitter pages, and publishes the bimonthly newsletter, Our Neighborhood. Our Choice.
